Just came across this very informative bit of information. I would never have thought that the platypus and echidna were related; how odd. Both egg laying mammals; very unique and both very beautiful animals. I am very glad that the platypus is protected but what about the lovely echidna? There is something truly magical about Australia's wildlife; it never ceases to amaze me. xxx
