Whilst doing my daily rounds of the wonderful Australia Zoo web site and, after listening to Jeremy, it really got me thinking about the point about biting its own tongue. Would any venomous animal die of its own poison or do they have a natural immunity to their venom. A very good point Jeremy, I will definitely look that one up. Also, noticed today that the Fierce Snake is 'vulnerable'. A bit sad about that; actually very sad about that. A very unique snake that I hope soon becomes UNVULNERABLE.

What I want to know is WHY DOES THIS SNAKE NEED SUCH DEADLY VENOM? I understand why every animal needs a form of defence, but a drop of venom potentially enough to kill 100 men, I am really intrigued by this. Nature thought of everything, so why would she give this snake the most toxic venom. Someone out there must know the answer. HELP ...............

The fierce snake is not the deadliest snake on earth. The saw scale viper kills more people than any other snake on the planet because they are aggressive. The fierce snake is the most toxic of all snakes but does not kill or bite nearly as many as most any other venomous snake because they are prone to flee away and not stand and bite. Toxic venom does not make them deadly. Only if they bite and that is extremely rare.
